The successful candidate will take a leading role in the Swiss Vascular Biobank, a well-established platform providing access to high-quality human vascular tissues. Notably, the Swiss Vascular Biobank is likely one of the largest biobanks in terms of aortic tissue, including samples of aneurysms, dissections, and control aortas.
The candidate will also lead an independent research program at the interface of clinical and molecular vascular biology. Current and future research focuses specifically on aortic diseases, such as aortic aneurysms and dissections. This position is designed for candidates aiming for scientific independence and securing competitive funding, such as SNF or ERC grants.
Key Responsibilities
• Scientific leadership and further development of the existing Swiss Vascular Biobank
• Continuation of an independent translational research line specifically focused on aortic diseases
• Supervision of laboratory personnel, students, and junior researchers
• Design and execution of research projects involving: human vascular tissues, molecular biology, histology and immunohistochemistry, transcriptomics / proteomics, epigenetics and non-coding RNAs, working with primary patient-derived vascular cells
• Integration of clinical data with molecular datasets
• Preparation of competitive grant applications (SNF, ERC, foundations)
• Ensuring compliance with Swiss regulatory frameworks (HFG/HFV, KEK)
