Director of Sales – Milling Solutions

Buhler Inc. seeks a full-time Director of Sales – Milling Solutions based in Plymouth, MN. The Director of Sales – Milling Solutions directs and oversees the execution of sales plans and other critical sales-related initiatives with respect to the company's grain milling products and promotes and sells Buhler equipment and services to customers in North America. Specific duties include: 1) Manage the Wheat and Rye, Specialty Grain and Pulses, Corn Milling, and Pulses and Spices Sales Teams servicing the North America territory, including the current customer base and new/potential customers. 2) Support business development, market assessment, and new account strategies. 3) Maintain customer records in customer relationship management (CRM) system. 4) Develop business concepts for the markets assigned, including market potential analysis, competitor analysis, trend analysis, and customer analysis. 5) Visit current and potential Buhler customers in North America to evaluate needs for new milling equipment or refurbishment of machinery, promote Buhler milling products and services, and prepare contracts for orders. 6) Direct sales teams and provide strategic planning and business growth to ensure sales budget (order intake) targets are met. Utilize Market Intelligence and Customer Relationship Management tools to oversee the development of business concepts, competitors, and customer analysis by the Sales Managers in the region. 7) Manage and maintain key accounts, including understanding and enforcing effective strategic and tactical market development and negotiating prices and terms and conditions of sales orders. 8) Oversee the coordination of pricing efforts and proposals for medium and large turnkey projects as high as $40 million. 9) Answer customer questions about Buhler machinery, technology, prices, availability, or credit terms and provide technical leadership for industrial milling projects in regard to grain milling technology, installation, and start-up of projects. 10) Collaborate with local engineering, technology, and quotation team. 11) Use Navigator software to create cost estimates for industrial milling projects and reading blueprints, flow charts, and piping diagrams. 12) Serve as the senior Buhler U.S. representative at on-site customer meetings, tradeshows, exhibitions, and industry associations. 13) Lead the formulation, recommendation, and implementation of policies and programs in the areas of forecasting, sales, pricing, marketing, new product development, and related activities. This position supervises six subordinates. Domestic and international travel required approximately 50% of the time.
These are the skills you'll need
This position requires four (4) years of related experience in the milling industry. Experience must include 24 months of experience, which may be gained concurrently, with each of the following: 1) Supporting business development, market assessment, and new account strategies. 2) Managing and maintaining key accounts, including understanding and enforcing effective strategic and tactical market development and negotiating prices and terms and conditions of sales orders. 3) Providing technical leadership for industrial milling projects in regard to grain milling technology, installation, and start-up of projects. 4) Visiting current and potential customers to evaluate needs for new milling equipment or refurbishment of machinery, promote milling products and services, and prepare contracts for orders. Must also have 6 months of experience, which may be gained concurrently, with each of the following: 1) Using Navigator software to create cost estimates for industrial milling projects and reading blueprints, flow charts, and piping diagrams. 2) Developing business concepts for the markets assigned, including market potential analysis, competitor analysis, trend analysis, and customer analysis. 3) Maintaining customer records in customer relationship management (CRM) system. All experience may be gained concurrently. Domestic and international travel required approximately 50% of the time. Salary: $173, 702/year.
