Buhler Inc. seeks full-time Lead Project Engineers (multiple positions) based in Plymouth, MN. The Lead Project Engineer leads project teams in executing medium sized technical projects for customers in the food industry, such as grain milling including specialty grains like oat, animal feed, and oil extraction, and supports the Project Manager in more complex projects. Specific duties include: 1) Manage assigned projects from initiation to completion, ensuring all project goals and objectives are met. 2) Actively participate in project meetings and design reviews with cross-functional team members, suppliers, and/or customers. 3) Responsible for technical design of medium plants, lines and single machines, approves deliverables to ensure that design will meet customer expectations. 4) Create efficient, organized, practical layouts for manufacturing plants and production lines that optimize material flow, ensure safety standards, and maximize the use of space. 5) Address and resolve any questions or issues during design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning. 6) Track schedules to ensure projects are executed completely and on time. Prioritize and manage work to support budgeted hours and scheduled due dates. Ensure proper specifications and timely placement of purchase orders. 7) Support Team Members in technical responsibilities. 8) Track deviations using the Buhler quality system. 9) Prepare work packages for other engineering locations. 10) Capture project experience and best practices, and apply lessons learned. Domestic travel required up to 10% of the time.
These are the skills you'll need
This position requires five (5) years of related food processing project engineering experience. Experience must include two (2) years of experience, which may be concurrent, with all of the following: 1) Managing assigned projects from initiation to completion, ensuring all project goals and objectives are met. 2) Actively participating in project meetings and design reviews with cross-functional team members, suppliers, and/or customers. 3) Creating efficient, organized, practical layouts for manufacturing plants and production lines. 4) Addressing and resolving any questions or issues that occur during design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning. 5) Tracking schedules to ensure projects are executed completely and on time. Prioritizing and managing work hours to support budgeted hours and scheduled due dates for projects. Ensuring proper specifications and timely placement of purchase orders. All experience may be gained concurrently. Domestic travel required up to 10% of the time. Salary: $120, 515/year.
