The Facility Electrician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting building systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations. This role performs advanced maintenance and repair work across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems, requiring journeyman level skill, judgment, and independence.
Key Activities
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, motors, controls, panels, and equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting, preventative, and predictive maintenance on electrical systems to minimize down time and extend equipment life.
• Diagnose complex facility issues and implement effective, code‑compliant solutions.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Respond to urgent maintenance issues and facility emergencies as needed. After hours maintenance as needed.
• Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems to identify maintenance or safety issues.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Support safety audits and regulatory inspections.
• Support grounds maintenance tasks, including seasonal needs (e.g., snow removal, exterior upkeep).
• Coordinate with and oversee contractors and vendors performing specialized or regulated work.
• Assist with facility projects, office moves, equipment installations, and minor renovations.
• Verify quality and safety of contractor work.
• Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment documentation.
• Communicate clearly with management, coworkers, and building occupants regarding maintenance activities.
• Follow lockout/tagout, arc flash, and other electrical safety procedures.
• Advanced troubleshooting and mechanical skills
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
• Ability to plan and prioritize multiple work orders
• Basic computer and maintenance management system skills
• Professional customer‑service and communication skills
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED required.• Journeyman status in a skilled trade (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or related field).
• Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on facilities or building maintenance experience at the journeyman level or equivalent.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions
